Volvo S80 DRIVe and V70 DRIVe with lower fuel consumption
Saturday, March 6th, 2010
With minimal changes to the S80 DRIVe and V70 DRIVe, Volvo’s engineers have managed to lower the average cost of fuel in both cars by 4.9 of 4.5l/100km and emitted CO2 emissions – from 129 to 119gr/km. Environmental models are equipped with 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with a power 109 h.p. at 4 000 rev/min and a maximum torque of 240 Nm at 1 750 rev/min. The unit is combined with five-speed manual transmission. The main change has been carried out in both cars is to equip them with the smart system to recharge the battery, working only when the engine is not loaded, for example when moving downwards. Volvo reason to resort to these improvements is primarily due to reduced levels of emissions released into 120 gr/km, which automatically means less taxes in many European countries and of course reducing fuel consumption is also of great importance.
