VW makes 60 new models on a common platform

According to data from the British edition of Autocar, the German concern VW Group has started developing an entirely new platform on which will be built as 60 models under the brand Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat and Audi. Code name for the new platform is MQB – Modularen QuerBaukasten. It will replace the currently used PQ2, PQ3 and PQ4, such as Head of Department for design and development at VW, Ullrich Hakenberg on its basis will be able to produce vehicles with different wheelbase of many segments, including convertibles, SUVs and vans. According to Autocar, MQB platform will debut the new generation of Audi A3 in the 2011th, but other data sources that will happen with the future of middle-class sedan that Volkswagen developed specifically for the U.S. market and is scheduled to be released the same year.
