Audi develops conceptual version of the new generation of model A2, announced UK edition Autocar, as the design of the car has already been approved by the company’s headquarters in Ingolstat.
Michael Dick, who is a member of the board for technical development at Audi, said that the appearance of the concept very similar to that of the first generation of the A2, but the future will be a serial model radically different.
The compact car will be built on an entirely new platform that will later serve as a basis for creating the next generation of models A3, expected to appear on the market in 2011.
Not yet known what engines will be a new A2, but it is certain that the model will have electric version. That is why the car to be developed more as now it is unclear when it will be placed on the market.
We remind you that the first generation of Audi A2 are produced in the period 1999 – 2005. By the time of it were sold only 175 000 copies, which was highly unsatisfactory for the company.
